Student Collective
We have established a Student Collective (collective) aligning with our commitment to elevating student voices and experiences.
What they will do
Members of the collective share their perspectives and lived experiences to the NSO to shape future learnings for us and surface current challenges impacting student complaint-handling processes.
Collective members
The collective represents a diverse student experience, including:
- people with a disability
- people who are culturally and linguistically diverse
- international students
- people impacted by gender-based violence with insights on prevention and response strategies
- First Nations people
- gender or sexually diverse people.
It includes students from different higher education providers who are:
- undergraduate and postgraduate
- studying on campus, hybrid or online
- in metropolitan and regional areas.
This collective will not have any involvement in any operational matters, such as NSO complaints or investigations processes.
Any applicable compensation for their participation is in accordance with the Office of the Commonwealth Ombudsman’s Community Stakeholders Paid Participation Policy.
Terms of Reference are available for further information.

We anticipate opening for another round of expressions of interest in early 2027.
