Jax Hanna - Senior Assistant Ombudsman
In my career I’ve had the privilege to build systems that ensure fairness, improve how people live and importantly deliver programs that help keep people safe. I’m especially proud of the cultures I’ve built and been part of that focus on performance and improvement from a human impact perspective. I’ve led teams across a range of programs, ranging from youth services, homelessness, disability and family violence.
Through my experience in quality assurance, I’ve seen how good complaint processes can improve services. Intelligence from complaints comes from the people who use the service, so it’s real first-hand experience. It’s free feedback that tells us what we need to improve the quality of services and strengthen accountability for our work.
Where there are significant power imbalances, I remember the person behind the process. I know that fair systems and responses are required to protect people from harm.
I am a career public servant always adding to my skill base. I have a Master of Professional Accounting, a Diploma of Sustainability, a Master of Business Administration - and soon I’ll graduate from a Master of Social Impact.
As a lifelong learner, I know that education provides critical opportunities for individuals and our country. I join the NSO committed to making sure that our systems are fair and work to support student success.
